Outstanding Fire Fighter Award Program

 
To determine the winner as the outstanding Fire Fighter:
  • Each Post within the Department of Wisconsin shall receive an entry blank on which the Post's recommendation for the award winner may be listed.
  • It will be the duty of each Post Commander to appoint a committee of five (5) Legion members of his Post, including the Public Safety Chairman, whose duty it will be to select an entry for his award.  This selection may then be endorsed by the Post membership.  The Post application shall then be forwarded to the County Public Safety Chairman for further consideration in the County, and the County winner will be submitted to the District.  Districts 4 & 5 - Posts will forward their application directly to the Districts. 
All posts must have their applications submitted to the District by March 15.
 
  • Each County or Post winner shall be determined and the application forwarded to their respective District by April 1 of each year.  It is suggested that an appropriate program be held and a citation be awarded o the respective Post winners.
  • It shall be the duty of each District Commander to appoint a committee of five (5) Legion members of his District (one from a County whenever possible) and a District Public Safety Chairman whose duty it will be to screen all applications and determine the District winner, each contestant to be identified by number whenever feasible.  The District winner may then be endorsed by the District membership.  The winning application in each District shall then be forwarded to Department Headquarters for the attention of the Department Public Safety Chairman.  The District winner may be recognized on the District level although his award will be presented to him at either Spring Conference preceding the Department Convention or District Fall Conference following the Convention. 
  • The selection of District winners shall be completed and certified to Department Headquarters by May 1 of each year.  The Department Committee will recognize only one (1) winner from each of the Legion Districts.
  • Upon certification of the District winners to the Public Safety Committee, said committee shall then determine the DEPARTMENT WINNER.
  • The judging and selection fo the FINAL WINNER shall be made by the PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE at the Department Spring Meetings and the award shall be made at the annual Department Convention.
